HACCP based Food Safety System  

The presence of preventive system rather than a corrective one is very important in food industry, such as Hazard Analysis Critical control Point system (HACCP).

This system is designed to ensure that the production processes are under control in all stages & it is directly related to food industry because it determines the critical control points & the corrective action to be taken in case of deviation from their limits, which are set using a verification & documentation system. 

Regulatory authorities for food products have a duty to ensure that foods offered to consumers are safe to eat. In the past they have required a positive approach of using good manufacturing practices (GMP), producing food in a hygienic manner, & by inspection of finished product.

It is now realized that inspection of finished product gives a poor control over the safety of foods, therefore regulatory agencies are increasingly requiring that food manufacturing establishments take a preventive approach to safety based on the principles of HACCP system.

The HACCP system applied in Technical Food Industries Company which is a system recognized, approved and adopted by WHO and FAO organizations is built on a base of GMP's accompanied with the application of cleaning & pest control programs' in order to support sustainability of the system. The HACCP system is capable of accommodating change, such as equipment design, processing procedures or technological developments, which will be applied throughout the food chain from the primary producer to final consumer.

The application of HACCP is compatible with the implementation of quality management system such as ISO 9001:2000

The ISO 9001:2000 standards (Quality Assurance) provide an excellent framework for the inclusion of the HACCP principles & a strong basis for continual improvement. The HACCP monitoring corrective action, record keeping & verification requirements are already contained in ISO 9001:2000

Adding hazard analysis & critical control points to the quality system is relatively simple .
